April 16th, 2008 — Blog
While I’ve got a little time on my hands in between freelance projects, I’m going the rounds between all my neglected blogs and posting like a madman just to get everything back up to date.
It opened my eyes to just how many blogs I actually have sitting around in teh blogosphere so I felt a bit sorry for them all and wanted to give them some attention.
This one is no different except I already started posting in here again as visitor number were flagging and it needed new blood. Well, that’s what its gonna get. See future posts for what’s coming…

April 14th, 2008 — Make Money
Let’s get moving on with some more ways to make money online. After my last post Audio, Video and TV on Your Blog, which went into the pros and cons of using certain media on your blogs to gain readers and boost your credibility, we’ll turn our radar onto other ways of turning the Internet into a make money machine. This post looks at something that Internet Marketers tend not to promote so much and that’s franchises.
First, lets look at why franchises are not so widely promoted on the Internet as a way to make money for newcomers.
This is plainly obvious in that to get into a franchise, you need startup capital and the vast majority of newcomers to the field of make money online don’t have any. From a seasoned Internet Marketer’s perspective, promoting franchises to people with no money is a waste of their efforts, especially when they can relieve many a newcomer to the world of make money online of a couple hundred dollars without too much work. In other words, most Internet Marketers go for the easy cash by working the big majority for small returns rather than having to work hard at convincing a few people with the money to spend it on this or that franchise.
Of course, this scenario is focused on the majority of Internet Marketers that we all know and love (a little). Franchises are not solely in the realm of the generic Internet Marketer, as there are other companies out there that do promote them with a good degree of success.
Franchise Opportunity specialist AmericasBestFranchises.com are one such company that successfully promote many money making Franchise opportunities in many different areas of business. Many people erroneously believe that you need many thousands of dollars to buy into a franchise, but that is not necessarily the case. When you visit their website, you’ll see that some franchises start at less than ten thousand dollars. At the time of writing, there is one franchise going for less than fifteen hundred dollars.
That’s not a great deal of money to get yourself set up in a branded business where you can potentially make a lot of money as long as you get your marketing right. Well what better way to do that than to do what you may well already be doing and that’s marketing online. One leads to the other in that if you are already successfully marketing one or many products online, there is every possibility that you could turn your already honed skills to marketing a brand name via a franchise.
That’s the positive side of the coin and it would be remiss to omit to mention that there is a negative side. In any business, you get out of it what you put into it. If you work hard and put your all into a business, then you will most likely succeed at it. Conversely if you expect to set up a business then sit back and wait for the money truck to roll up outside your door, you will doubtless fail. Same goes for a franchise. You can’t expect to pay your money, however much that is, to buy into a successful branded franchise business and then just sit back with your hands behind your head waiting for the payoff, because it will never come. You have to treat a franchise like any other legitimate business in that you have to work hard to make a success of it.
That may all sound like common sense to most of you, but you’d be surprised at how many people think they are going to make money hand over fist by starting a business and then not working at it. That haunting statistic comes back to remind us that fully 95% of Internet Marketers will fail. That means that fully 95% of everyone who starts a business online fails to make any money from it.
That’s a fact.
So if you’re in the 5% who succeed, pat yourself on the back because you have worked hard to make money online, no doubt about it. If not, then a franchise may not be for you and you should not give up your day job just yet.

April 12th, 2008 — Promotion & Marketing
Following on from the rather long make money fast post Make Money Fast with SEO, where I may have rambled a little (or a lot!) about the several tactics needed to make money fast with SEO as your main tool to pushing your blog as high as possible in the SERPs in order to attract a decent flow of organic search traffic, I now turn to the other side of blogging, which involves the use of audio, video and well ok, maybe not TV but give it time…
Well its all about promotion and marketing, so the more different and innovative tricks you can hide up your sleeve in order to convert visitors into dollars has to be a good thing. Many people are using video on their blogs and calling them vlogs (oh, lord save us from these geeky made up words…) to convey their message of whatever they want to convey to their readers (or in this case, their watchers I suppose).
It begs the pertinent question, of course in that “Where is all this leading?”
Audio and Video on blogs and websites is already here and growing at a fantastic rate of knots, so it stands to reason that streaming TV won’t be too far behnd. I’m not talking, in this sense of television as we all know it, with streaming episodes of Lost or Prison Break adorning a window up in the corner of our screen whist we give the impression to our bosses that we are diligently slaving away in order to swell their bank balances.
No, what I’m referring to here is bloggers and website owners who have the necessary funds breaking into their own world of television and creating their own shows, which of course will be nothing more than thinly veiled advertising in order to sell even more of their wares to their already saturated visitors. To watch said blogging television shows you’ll probably need to reinvest in more comfortable equipment, like surround sound speakers as well as the all important widescreen viewing megalith for best results.
Then you can comfortably sit back in your favourite armchair and tune into the “John Chow Now” show and let the much maligned A-lister relieve your credit card of a big chunk of its available funds. Just think, where would it all stop? You could find yourself getting all lathered up about the “Grow a Marrow with Yaro” show, or even the “Credit Card Barren with Darren.” Oh such inspirational entertainment that would be!
I’m poking a little fun at these self styled gurus here, as you can probably guess. But I kid you not, a time will come when some of these online money drains will figure out that you can relieve many a newcomer to the world of Internet Marketing of many hundreds of dollars each with a well choreographed television style “show” designed to sell them the latest, must have ebook on how to make money fast and make lots of new friends out of all the other losers who bought it.
That’s because television is the most addictive medium there is and advertisers have been exploiting it for decades to sell me and you a plethora of unnecessary and often unwanted merchandise with the by product of making this or that company very rich indeed.
Will some Internet Marketers see this as the next logical step to fleece their lists? I wouldn’t bet money on it not happening.
