When There Isn’t Time…

Sometimes there are days when there simply isn’t time to get a good, meaningful blog post together. The reasons don’t matter - when you don’t have time, you don’t have time!

The last couple of days were like that for me, so this make money blog got passed over while I was busy with other tasks!

Today I’ve spent a littler time browsing around some other blogs which is a necessary part of blogging, I feel. It’s important to know what other bloggers in your field are writing about and you might, in your travels, pick up some useful information that you didn’t have before. Of course, it can be a bit time consuming as some blogs are better than others at catching your attention with really interesting posts.

I try to keep on-topic with the blogs I visit, so most of these are in the make money niche, but sometimes I find one that is totally off-topic but hooks me in because it is so well written or has something that I just find so interesting. All part of the job, I guess! The main thing to do while reading other blogs is to jot down some points of interest that you could use in your own blogs.

So with some inspiration to get writing, here I am. On the topic of what to do when you’ve been spending too much time reading other blogs (or maybe tweaking your own blog’s layout for half a day) and you simply haven’t got time to write anything.

Well, there are two solutions to this.

1. Do nothing. It’s not a crime and you need to sleep sometime!

2. Go for the quickie solution - pick a simple heading with a question, ie “Why…”; “How to…”, you know the kind. Pick two or three main points from your list of things you jotted down from your travels round the blogosphere. Flesh them out in a sentence or two each using a word processor so the spell checking is done on the fly, then copy and paste the whole thing into your blog and publish. Job done.

Now you can sleep

Where Do You Get Your Ideas?

Good question. To make money with a blog, you need to keep your content fresh and interesting but sometimes that’s not always an easy thing to do. It’s important to post regularly and often too, or the readership that you have so carefully and diligently nurtured will rapidly start to fall away with noting of any value or interest to read.

So sometimes you have to get inspiration from other sources. One good way I find when I’m stuck for an idea to post about is to spend some time reading other people’s blogs, or checking out the ton of free article databases that can be found everywhere on the web.

I often seem to come across an article or post that has some interesting information that I just hadn’t thought about. So I make some rough notes about what I’ve just found, making sure I’ve got the bare facts straight, then set about writing a post of my own about what I’ve just discovered.

It’s not plagiarism, as the post is in my own words and after all, news is news and is copied all over the place every day! It’s all down to the way you tell it!

So if you’re ever stuck for what to write about, go do some research and surprise yourself at what’s out there to be learned!
