Make Money Online - a Job or Not a Job?

I’ve just posted about this subject over at The Honest Way blog but I thought it would sit nicely here as well in a cut down version.

It’s about whether you believe you make money from working at your own home business or make money from a work from home job.

The differences, as I have explained at much greater length over at The Honest Way are not quite as subtle as you’d think, but when you sit down and work it out for yourself, you’ll see the difference is really quite fundamental.

When you make money from your own home business, you work for yourself. You make money from selling your own product or package, or you make money from commissions gained from promoting affiliate sales of other people’s products. Either way, you are generating your own income - you make money from selling, and your customers pay.

When you make money from doing a work from home job, you still work for someone else. You still have a boss. Ok, that boss isn’t sitting in the next room or office, but you are paid by that boss nevertheless. You may work by writing for several different blogs or websites, so you’ll have several bosses and your wages will have been pre-defined by your own negotiations, but ultimately, you are not your own boss, because you will have agreed to produce a certain amount of work in a set amount of time for a set amount of money.

That’s a job however you look at it!
